Frequently asked questions
Q) Who are these classes for?
A) Life Drawing and Art for All are suitable for anyone from the absolute beginner on.
This may appear an optimistic or impossible aim, however the experience I have had in running classes suited to a wide range of abilities means I have developed activities which can be undertaken and benefited from at different levels by different people.
Most regular classes are aimed at adults and have been attended by regular enthusiasts, beginners, professionals, students at GCSE, A Level and degree level and those preparing for university.
Q) What is life drawing?
A) You may have seen this on TV programmes - a class who are drawing from a nude model. It is considered to be the best way of improving your drawing. If you are worried about it do contact me and discuss.
At Shards we used a costumed model as this is a public place.
Simply Sketching uses a lightly clothed model (top and leggings) and Lilly's Portrait session has a model in costume.
Q) What if I just want to draw rather than be taught?
A) You are very welcome to just take the opportunity to draw rather than receive tuition. Over the years some people have turned up regularly just to "do their own thing", others have joined in part of the session as it appeals, yet others have joined in most days but occasionally work untutored.
Q) Am I too experienced/inexperienced?
A) No, these sessions have been attended by a wide range of people, some have never drawn before and some are professionals.
Q) I am not available on your days, do you have anything else in the pipeline?
A) I have gradually increased sessions available and if a particular day or time seems popular then I will be bearing this in mind when I do so.
There will be occasional additional sessions either all day pre-book ones (weekends) or one off trials or taster sessions.
Other local weekend sessions are on Bournemouth Life Drawing .
Meanwhile, if you wish to keep informed of new things coming up then please contact me and ask to receive my monthly newsletter.
Q What else do you do?
A I have also run one off classes and workshops for specific groups such as art holidays, parties, children, adults and children with learning disabilities, schools and so on. Click Bespoke sessions, specialist groups etc for more suggestions or contact me to discuss what you are interested in.
